Tips to make your podcast guest feel special

happy podcast guestAs a podcast interview subject, have you ever encountered a host who’d never read your blog, or who didn’t even show up at the appointed time for the recording session? I have.

As a podcaster myself, I try to be considerate when inviting guests to be on my show. After all, it’s an investment of their time too. How delighted I was today to see a post by Allison Boyer, listing 15 ways to make your podcast guest feel special, including these top tips:

  • Do your research
  • Offer to have a Skype chat first, especially if the person is unfamiliar with Skype
  • Ask how you can help them
  • Follow them on social media
  • Don’t rush the session
  • Support your guest’s projects

Read the whole post on the Blogworld blog to see all 15 suggestions. If you’re a podcaster, it’s worth your time. One thing I would add: Work to put your guest at ease. Some people are extremely nerve-wracked at the idea of being interviewed and recorded.
